Loving Summer

May 1, 2017

We are looking forward to Wimbledon, strawberries and yes, linen! As massive fans of sunshine and tennis, we are looking forward to getting out our lovely soft linen suits and enjoying the best of the British summer.

Did you know? that linen is made from flax, a plant that has been turned into luxury fabrics since ancient times. In fact, it was the first know textile in the world, dating back to around 800 BC.

Links to ancient Egypt Linen was the luxury fabric wrapped around the mummified bodies of Egyptian Pharaohs, it was see as a symbol of light and purity, and a display of wealth.

Cool and great for the environment being all natural, linen is good for the environment, it is a great conductor of heat, it keeps the body cool when worn in hot climates due to its ability to absorb and lose water rapidly gaining up to 20% moisture content without feeling damp.

Elegant and very British the natural look of linen cloth is an elegant choice for casual wear, warm weather, weekends and holidays, It has a smooth, lustrous surface with a natural resistance to dirt and staining.

Don't hesitate please plan ahead for summer as our bespoke garments take a while to be made to your specifications and you'll want them in good time for all those summer events.
